Through partnerships with Kamloops local media such as the Omega, The Connector, and the CBC Kamloops Bureau, the Community News Collective gives opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with radio reporting in a newsroom setting. With a focus on community news, students learn the value of nonmainstream reporting and the untold stories of the marginalized. Accomplishments: ● Taught students the news values of radio broadcasting. ● Taught students audio editing, script writing, and interviewing. ● Maintained partnerships with local news organizations for student opportunities. ● Hosted and produced a weekly radio news show on 92.5 FM. ● Designed and created Community News Collective website: www.newscollective.ca.
