Training Manager

Aug 2020 - Jan 2022
I now manage the Training and Test Conversion Services at BTL. We have a dedicated team of Product Trainers who deliver remote, comprehensive training on Surpass and SecureMarker. We also have a team available to provide a test-building service, which holds a nice crossover with training others on best practise when it comes to Surpass.

As well as my other responsibilities, I am now managing the training output of my team. This includes managing new starter, internal and customer training, and maintaining the quality of training delivered by my team.

I received a promotion which reflected the autonomy in which I was beginning to work. I delivered training sessions to members of the Surpass Community more independently. I also took on the responsibility of internal training at BTL. This meant I coordinated refresher training for internal staff to maintain a high standard of product knowledge across the company. I introduced internal webinars as a way to train high numbers of staff virtually without a lot of resource implications.

Assistant Technical Author
-
Jul 2018 - Apr 2019
My primary role was writing help documentation for the e-assessment software Surpass. This included feature documentation alongside the development of the product, 'how-to' articles and bitesize training videos. I belonged to several product refinement teams and worked in an agile/scrum way to develop features with the user experience in mind. I also delivered training to new starters at our company, as well as customers to BTL.

I worked in the Careers and Employability department at York St John University. I started working on the DLHE project, researching and collecting data on student outcomes. I then assisted in an internal research project which measured student employability alongside graduate employment success. I further went to gain experience in event management, networking and website design. My favourite part of the job was assisting students in achieving graduate internships or volunteering opportunities, as this gave me immense job satisfaction. I was part of a strong team who helped me develop as an employee. Show less
