Greenway offers a creative and natural approach to childcare. Working primarily with infants and toddlers, my duties included leading group activities, facilitating safety and play, preparing snacks, changing diapers, and cleaning up various messes. However, the most rewarding aspect of my job comes from simply playing with the children and watching each individual grow and developing, learning to move in this world. Some of my favorite activities to take part in with the children include yoga, painting, gardening, reading, and especially dancing and music. Learning to respond to each child’s unique needs has taught me to be more attentive, patient, and flexible. Show less

This part-time job allowed me to observe my developmental psychology studies unfold in a real life environment while working in multiple departments.Interacting with children approximately six years old or younger, I learned to balance the role of being a friend with being an authority figure. My responsibilities varied from preparing and organizing materials to leading activities such as dancing, art projects, and science experiments. Although I often worked behind the scenes inflating balloons and filing receipts, the most rewarding aspects of this job came from interacting with the children in the playground and at birthday parties. My experience working in a restaurant/bar enhanced my ability to multitask as well as work on my communication and interpersonal skills while interacting with customers. New to the task of bar-tending, this job challenged me to learn a new skill and pay attention to details. Additionally, working with a small team of coworkers allowed me to learn how to harmonize with the rhythm of the service industry. This memorable summer job involved dressing up and performing as various Peanuts’ characters, including Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Sally, Linus, and Lucy. I performed in daily song and dance routines at Camp Snoopy as well as interacted with guests during ‘’meet and greets.’’ While learning to stay in character, I also gained experience in quick thinking and flexibility by interacting non-verbally with customers and as well as other characters/co-workers.
