General Summary:The Medication Technician assists members with prescribed medications and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Gives direct member care, such as bathing, dressing, and assisting in examinations and treatments.Essential Job Duties: • Presents medication to members and observes ingestion or other application.• Takes vital signs or observes member to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.• Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.• Receives supply of ordered medications and apportion, mix, or assemble drugs for administration to member.• Records and restocks medication inventories.• Verifies identity of members receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records.• Stay current with education/certification programs.Other Duties:• Demonstrates competent clinical practices, and engages in opportunities for clinical growth.• Contributes to an effective and efficient practice environment.• Uses Standard Precautions including personal protective equipment for anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infection materials.• Demonstrates competency in adjusting interactions and the delivery of care and/or current clinical techniques appropriate to address the age specific needs of the member.• Performs similar and incidental duties as assigned.• Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and meals• Other duties as assignedSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesCan demonstrate efficient capability in the following Skills, Knowledge and Abilities; Skills in reading, and writing in English along with the ability to communicate effectively throughExperience: Four year experience within acute care setting.
