I'd like to highly recommend Ashley as a graphic designer. She is extremely talented and skilled in all areas of design. Her communication is excellent, she requires a minimum of direction and is able to provide outstanding work with a quick turnaround. Her choice of fonts, color and layout are always spot on!

I met Ashley early in her college career as one of her instructors in a basic design course. Her creativity and inventiveness were already evident. A couple of years later I had the privilege of being one of the reviewers at her senior portfolio presentation. Ashley had transformed into a skillful and sensitive graphic designer. Her work truly impressed me. Since then, I have had the opportunity to meet with her and view her professional portfolio. Ashley's work is smart, beautiful, and on target. Ashley is also an articulate and dedicated design professional.

I built and have worked diligently since to maintain my freelance design business over the last eight years. I have worked with individual private clients and business-owners, as well as a handful of larger companies, to create both print and web assets for them. This takes a back-seat when I am employed full-time. A strong preference toward working with/for minority-owned individuals and companies has allowed me to help support people from all walks of life. I worked full-time as a sub-contractor recruited through Cat Media at the Vermont Army National Guard, to manage and re-work/introduce some creative processes and provide creative services to the Family Programs department, as well as their partnering departments. This included (but was not limited to): photographing events such as Yellow Ribbon Ceremonies before large deployments and Award ceremonies, updating the monthly newsletter that is sent to families as a resource hub, one-off jobs for the base in general, and keeping the website updated. I loved what I did and I felt fulfilled working in a department that is used to assist the families of past, present, and future Armed Forces members.

Although my official Patient Advocacy internship with Planned Parenthood of Northern New England ended with my Fall 2019 undergrad semester (in December 2019), I was welcomed to stay on as part of the Patient Advocacy team to continue story-collecting efforts and to help launch a new social media-based campaign and landing page on the national website in support of Prop 5 in Vermont. As part of this role, I accepted an invitation in November 2019 to fly to Washington, D.C. for a Lobby Day in support of Title X funding - which a large number of PPNNE patients utilize in order to access clinical services and assistance. I wrapped up my work at PPNNE formally in the Summer of 2020, so I could focus on working in clinical mental health.

I worked for the longest-running, award-winning newspaper association in Vermont, as well as their private print and web design firm. I created and updated ads that run in the daily paper, and helped create, print, and assemble other materials for private clients. I also designed for outside clients who sought professional services from the creative team and print shop. I worked within four different brands owned by the Teddy Bear Co. There are four catalogues, two of which are apparel, one for the bears that everyone knows and loves, and one specialty food product. As one of three designers, I edited and created spreads in the catalogues, worked on email blasts, created hangtags, inserts, and other various printed one-off projects, and covered anything else that popped up and needed to be done design-wise. I was hired as the primary Graphic Designer for a wonderful non-synthetic and largely organic skincare company, beginning as a freelance designer and then hired on full-time. I was responsible for creating and updating various collateral, primary and secondary packaging, in-store vendor displays, and just about anything else that may pop up on any day. I wore many hats at Tata Harper and worked with a fantastic team! As one of four prepress technicians, I was responsible for reviewing digital artwork sent to me from various external clients. I was responsible for checking color separations, making sure they were using a high-res file type, and making sure the final product would print well for the item these clients were labeling. From time to time, I was also asked to design labels for clients from scratch. I created the photo-polymer plates that were wrapped around the cylinders on the presses to print the finished labels. I was utilized in various other departments periodically as well, including customer service and shipping.

As the Layout Editor, I was in charge of creating graphics, logos, and advertisements for The Critic, the student-led, student-read newspaper at Lyndon State College, as well as leading weekly layout sessions to set the pages up for printing. I was helping to guide a transition for the staff from using Quark Express to using Adobe InDesign CS6 for producing the files used to print the paper.
