At NLR (Leprastichting), I working as the international project lead of the PEP4LEP research project (EU Horizon 2020 & LRI, 3.2M), an implementation trial focusing on preventive medication against leprosy. I am responsible for the over-all management of the project, which includes: 11 partners from 5 countries (EU and Sub-Sahara Africa), >350 health workers and >30,000 study participants. Training health and research staff in Ethiopia, Mozambique and Tanzania is a key project element. Results are expected to be presented for uptake in health policies and in international journals and conferences. Part of the project is the use of SkinApp, an mHealth solution for primary health workers, which is now being adopted by WHO. I also work as medical scientific advisor of the Ready4PEP project (Nigeria, Mozambique) and the SkinApp. My expertise within NLR includes: medication supply chain management, integrated skin screening, advocacy, grant writing and medical scientific research & teaching. I am involved in various international working groups & meetings, including the NNN Skin NTD Group. Every year, over 200,000 new leprosy patients are detected worldwide.
