I wanted to help out because I knew I would be able to also experience other people's faiths and cultures. This proved to be a great experience for me, helping me understand the importance of being exposed to diversity, especially at a young age (the camp I attended was geared toward younger kids); when we experience different people early on we see how ultimately they are just people. They may adhere to a different faith, but it does not mean that we cannot be friends and come together as one. I will add that this camp was founded after the 9/11 attacks to teach children tolerance and show them what other faiths were really like. The camp tried to replace much of the discrimination following the attacks with love and understanding. Show less
