I was the instructor for the University of Washington's Data Analytics course. I worked with Arun who was my teaching assistant for that course for 3 months at the beginning of 2018. I was impressed by Arun's drive and energy matched only by his desire to ensure the best outcomes for every student in the class. He went above and beyond his role to provide 'tips and tricks' every week to help the students get over the most common stumbling blocks for that week's content. In addition to grading assignments and quizzes, Arun often provided timely technical guidance to the students in the forums. What impressed me the most, however, was his presentation skills during our weekly live office hours. He walked students through R code line by line illustrating deep technical concepts, explaining it in a way the students could quickly understand. Arun was a key asset to the UW Data Analytics course and was instrumental in its success. I would not hesitate to recommend Arun or work with Arun in the future.

Arun worked during spring/summer 2015 on developing a roadmap of ‘Duke Energy Academy at Purdue’. This included SWOT analysis, benchmarking, stakeholders input, option analysis, and finally recommendations. Arun executed projected in a timely manner and produced an excellent quality report. He is very clear in his communication and follows sincerely. I wish him a success.

Using data science and machine learning to understand portfolio theory Capstone project of the Springboard Data Science Intensive course used fundamental accounting data to model market capitalization and the probability of a stock outperforming the benchmark. Showed that a model using only accounting data is unable to incorporate unstructured and intangible information, critical for valuing equities. Concluded that random forest algorithm performs better than linear, logistic regression and support vector machine algorithms in predicting the ability of a stock to generate alpha. https://github.com/arunbharadwaj2009/FinalProjects/blob/master/Springboard_DS%20Intensive_Capstone_Report_Final.pdf https://anaconda.org/arunbharadwaj2009/capstone_dsintensive_final/notebook Using data science to understand potential biases in Dota 2 gameplay Capstone project of the Springboard Foundations of Data Science course used in-game data to understand the effect of team selection, hero selection and item purchase on Dota 2 gameplay. Used logistic regression to show that teams with more than three strength heroes had a higher probability of winning and proposed a relook into the metrics of strength heroes to ensure fair gameplay. http://rpubs.com/arunbharadwaj2009/300754 https://github.com/arunbharadwaj2009/FinalProjects/blob/master/Springboard_Foundations%20of%20DS_Capstone_Code.R Github repository https://github.com/arunbharadwaj2009/FinalProjects Show less

Developed 2 solar projects : 40 MW PV and 100 MW CSP. The CSP is currently the world`s largest project using AREVA Solar`s Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector (CLFR) technology. - Performed technology comparisons : Thin Film versus Crystalline and CLFR versus Parabolic trough.- Handled end to end development of both projects, right from signing off power purchase agreements with off-takers, construction contracts, technology supply agreements and financial closure agreements with bankers.- Brought in $ 300 mi worth of debt funding for the CSP and helped save the company $ 150 mi in interest costs over 10 year period.- Analyzed solar resource/plant energy yield estimates, performed probability assessments of different scenarios and convinced bankers that 10% drop in resource would not affect the project`s debt service coverage. Ensured that project financial closure happened in time. Show less
