COSA was touted as an organization that brought in young girls who were human trafficking survivors, and sheltered them and gave them a chance to go to school. I took care of the girls like a big brother. They would come to me with their problems, for advice, or to laugh. Eventually I started becoming very suspicious of the owner, who lived quite lavishly and made many of the girls feel like "prisoners" at the organization. There just happened to be a documentary team filming on site for some time during my stay, and we shared our skepticism about the organization. I left the organization early because of my repeated confrontations with the owner and his treatment of the girls. Eventually, the truth was exposed in their documentary "The Wrong Light." Show less

The owner of Bigfoot Studios would request that we build various gadgets for the company. These included SMS remote switches to turn off power supplies in Europe, SMS operated door locks, Elevator security displays for the guards, and much more. After his request for a gadget came in, I would work with a team to develop the hardware needed to complete the task, then write the code for the Arduino boards that would run the hardware. It was a fast paced job that required intense on the job learning for me, as I'd never written code before in my life. I was passed out on the airport floor when someone almost tripped over me, and after she initially scolded me when I woke up, she called a friend and highly recommended he hire me (her friend is now my current business partner in my latest endeavor) Show less

My team was researching nutrient transfer from sea anemones to Clown Fish. We would go on night dives (or "raids" if you asked the fish) to capture Clown Fish, designed cages to contain the species within their local habitats, and harvested fish organs for further study. There was lots of improvising as the conditions we expected to dive and work in changed frequently, requiring is to change our research tactics and redesign our equipment.
