During my time at ventair, my main responsibility was fabricating ducting from sheet from sheet metal. It was also my responsibility to travel on-site to liaise with customers, deliver materials and install complex ventilation systems alongside a team of assistants. The customers are usually large facilities such as hospitals, police stations, train stations and museums. A lot of the job involves training new staff in engineering, and spending much time within our workshop welding and assembling. Show less

    • Apprentice sheet metal worker
      • May 2016 - Dec 2019

Immediately after leaving school, I started to serve my time as an apprentice sheet metal worker. This meant studying a level 3 NVQ in mechanical engineering and maintenance along side learning about the job role. NSV specialised in offshore air conditioning units and also safety/Fire dampers. I tried my hand in electrical engineering, refrigeration and sheet metal. Specialising in sheet metal meant constructing the main shells of the units, some being up to 30 feet long. I was also a member of the health and safety committee, I really enjoyed this as it meant walking around speaking to all of my colleagues about any health and safety concerns that they may have and coming up with a suitable solution later on at a health and safety meeting. It was a really enjoyable job and I loved every minute of it. After completion of my apprenticeship I decided to join the Royal Navy and pursue a career that had always been a hobby of mine, diving.
