I am currently participating as a Mentee in the university’s professional mentoring program and have been paired with a mentor at Burness Paull. • Climate Change Global Virtual Internship
      • Nov 2020 - Nov 2020

The virtual internship involved completing tasks such as researching current proposed energy legislation, writing an email to a client, preparing a presentation on climate related disclosure deadlines, and reviewing a head of terms. The virtual internship was extremely valuable to me as it gave me a practical insight into the working world of law through tasks that I could be asked to do within a firm. The key skill I improved upon within the virtual internship was my research skills especially when considering proposed energy legislation to keep updated on current changes to legislation being considered.

    • Office Assistant
      • Jun 2016 - Sep 2016

I worked in a very busy office. My main responsibility was to provide admin support to the office and assist customers. My duties included Opening sorting and distributing mail, several tasks involving custom software (GIS) such as inputting daily worksheets and chasing up technicians for outstanding worksheets. I also would process card payments over the phone and call customers to review our service. This helped me develop my customer and people skills, to deal with many tasks at once under pressure and time constraints.

    • Civic and Social Organizations
    • Mentee - Accounts Assistant
      • 2014 - 2016

This is a 2-year programme, which is committed to improving the employability of school pupils this includes a pupil being paired with a mentor, who is a member of staff in a company, it also requires students to attend Master classes and Guru lectures. This includes an internship placement (Summer 2015) of 4 weeks at the participating mentor’s workplace, where at the end of the internship, I had to present what I had learned in front of the whole company. I worked in a busy team under pressure; my main responsibility was ensuring the purchase ledger was up-to date, but I was also tasked with journal entry, Sale Order Processing, checking statements, chasing people up for invoices, suggesting payments, and getting sales invoices ready to be sent out and handling wage slips. During my time at Proctor’s I developed my people skills and confidence as I met new people and interacted with customers. I also learned how to use a complicated accountancy software called Pegasus Opera. I also learnt the value of responsibility and effective communication. I further developed my workplace etiquette and the importance of managing your workload.
