  I work within the Award-winning Asset Finance Department. I advise a Finance House in relation to title disputes and I regularly use the Hire Purchase Act 1964. I confirm that I am the only point of contact for our sixth most billable client for all Innocent Purchaser cases. I also have extensive knowledge of Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977, Consumer Credit Act 1974 and Sales of Goods Act 1979. Additionally, I write our defences to the Financial Ombudsman Service as well as writing Final Responses to customers’ complaints. I have good understanding of FCA guidelines. In this role, I have had close contact with the client as I have worked with the client from our office and I have also worked from the client's office. Achievements2017: Assisted a Partner and an Associate with a fraud case.2017: Took part in Shoosmiths Pro-bono clinic and advised a client at Citizen Advice on a company law matter and another client on a family law matter.2017: Successfully recovered high value assets such as BMW, Mercedes and Audi.2017: Presented a legal solution to our client (in relation to Innocent Purchaser cases).   I recently attended an Open Day at Simmons & Simmons which gave me an insight into the firm and solidified my ambition to become a Solicitor. The highlight of the day was that I had an opportunity to have a lengthy discussion with Martin Shah (an Equity Partner within the firm). I asked Martin what strategy he adopts to retain clients and how he builds successful long-term relationships with clients in an extremely competitive market. Martin advised me what strategies Simmons & Simmons adopt to build successful relationship. I apply the same strategy where possible to forge a closer working relationship with the clients I currently represent and I will do the same with any clients I represent in my future endeavors.

  I worked between 15-40 hours per week, allowing me to accommodate my Law LLB studies alongside. I was regularly involved in employment matters and I represented members at disciplinary meetings, grievance hearing and I had to do the preparatory work for an appeal which was to be submitted at an Employment Tribunal. I had successfully resolved issues between Management by acting as a Mediator previously.I had further enhanced my skills by attending Conferences, where I had discussed with other representatives how our legal policies could be amended to improve working conditions. These negotiations went beyond Usdaw and included discussions with other Trade Unions to ensure there is a better debate to allow best policies to be forwarded to the Trade Union Congress. I delivered presentations regularly on topics including sickness absence, performance management, discrimination in the workplace and on gender equality. I had assisted clients with writing formal letters and I did some administrative work such as answering calls, filing and reviewing posts.I was nominated in 2015 to represent Usdaw at all Trade Union Conference and I was also selected as an Usdaw representative at Young workers conference. I was successful in getting all Trade Unions to support my motion.

  This work experience constituted of a one-week marshalling with HH Judge Sheridan. I was able to observe first hand criminal proceedings and during breaks I was able to discuss extensively with the Judge about the case and was able to discuss the performances of the Barristers with the Judge. This experience also gave me an opportunity to speak with the Barrister’s and develop my advocacy skills in the process.   I worked on pro-bona purposes between 10-15 hours per week for a six month period. During this time, I organised committee meetings and had to correspond with the Charity Commission. I was also involved in the recruitment of new employees and had to write the employment contracts. This project was an immense success as I was able to clarify job roles and also made the Trust compliant with Charities Act 2006.

This mentoring scheme has made me a resilient individual who loves performing under pressure. I represented Aylesbury District Cricket club for a period of two years.
