Transportation Working Group Coordinator

Manage and facilitate a multi-stakeholder working group looking to address key issues in Road Safety for Garment Workers. Facilitated the delivery of Cambodia’s first Road Safety Strategy to address the issues of safe transportation of garment workers to and from the factory. Coordinating various fora publicly launching the evaluation results of a successful pilot program looking at road safety intervention in factory settings, while advocating for policy change at government, brand, worker and employer level.I pivoted the Transportation Working Group to fund and design messaging to use it’s institutional leverage to work with Ministries of Health, and of Labour and the W.H.O. in Cambodia to quickly coordinate clear messaging for COVID-19 Safe practices in the factory setting and on the way to and from work each day in Cambodia - This was then replicated in Myanmar.Contributed to knowledge and evidence base and which was used to advocate Cambodian Government to increase the focus in enforcement in relation to vulnerable populations of workers on their daily commute, contributing to the lowering of national injury and death tolls.Invited to speak at various road safety forums, highlighting best practices and work towards global safety in relation to institutional road toll mitigation and information dissemination practices in ASEAN.Drive the Transportation Working Group (a group of representatives from 14 brands, 3 development agencies, factory managers, and road safety NGOs) to decide on and carry out actions through meetings/discussions/decisions made in relation to the goal of “All workers commute to and from work safely all the time”.

Donor Reporting and Event Consultant

Managed and produced the two-day Better Work Bangladesh Business Forum including curating relevant sector topics and overall narrative and sourcing and industry leaders as expert panellists, and tripartite constituents. Post-Forum I produced widely read reports and content for online promotion and transparent messaging around the discussion points. Attracted 350+ interested industry stakeholders to the forum to discuss themes that were at the cutting edge of the sector (Responsible Business Conduct and Due-Diligence practices in a post-COVID world, the future of MNE, Assessing the capacity of the sector and needs of workers to build-back better).

Garment Sector Compliance Advisor

In this role I am responsible for coordinating, authoring and publishing UN-partner donor reporting of the ILO - Better Factories Cambodia program.I lead, coordinate and influence a strategic multi brand / buyer working group that looks to tackle the dangers of commuting to and from factories in Cambodia every day.I provide regular reporting and manage six direct reports, providing detailed analysis on factory conditions and engage with garment factory buyers and brands in order to improve worker’s safety and conditions.I identify and create processes to improve the delivery of core assessment, advisory and training services to support improved conditions. I provide detailed data analysis and technical advice to inform project recommendations.

In this role I managed the compliance and internal and external stakeholder reporting requirements of relevant grants and contracts under the Migration Support Program which provided support, social inclusion and community development assistance to Asylum Seekers. I implemented a Quality Management system to prepare for ISO 9001 Accreditation, conducting Internal audit on 3 statewide worksites, and liaising with the external audit function. I managed the monitoring and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring services aligned with contractual obligations. I led the development and implementation of strategies to improve program adherence to KPIs, including staff training and created innovative targeted communications to influence behaviours internally to achieve set goals, and increase performance in line with best practice standards.
