I have had the privilege of serving as a Mentor Coach for the Teacher Coach program organised by Firki. Where I engaged in impactful one-on-one coaching conversations, reviewing their assignments and provided with critical feedback for all my coachees. In this role, I provided dedicated support to educators facing challenges and helped them navigate through complex situations. My coaching approach involved delving deep into the challenges my coachees brought forward. Through active listening and thoughtful questioning, I guided them to gain a deeper understanding of the issues at hand. Together, we explored diverse perspectives and collaboratively developed practical solutions to address these challenges effectively. One of the most rewarding aspects of this role was assisting individuals in making positive behavioral changes and facilitating profound shifts in mindset. By offering guidance, encouragement, and actionable strategies, I helped my coachees unlock their full potential and achieve their goals. My experience as a Mentor Coach has not only allowed me to contribute to the professional growth of others but has also enriched my own journey in learning and personal development. I am committed to continuing my role as a dedicated mentor and coach, supporting individuals in their pursuit of excellence in education. Show less

Mental health is equally as important as physical health; it includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It helps children with their emotional well-being and social skills. In addition, mentally healthy children function well at home, in school, and in their communities and have greater chances of leading a happy and successful life. On the contrary, poor mental health during childhood can severely impact the way children learn, behave, or handle their emotions. Mental health problems affect around one in six children. They include depression, anxiety and conduct disorder (a type of behavioural problem), and are often a direct response to what is happening in their lives. Being mentally healthy during childhood means reaching developmental and emotional milestones and learning healthy social skills and how to cope when there are problems. Mentally healthy children have a positive quality of life and can function well at home, in school, and in their communities To work on mental health issues prevention, we need to raise awareness. Schools are definitely one of the places where mental health awareness needs to be at a high level and its importance is immense.Policies: National Policy for Children (1974), National Policy on Education (1986) and Labor (1987), Mental Health Act (1987), National Nutrition Policy (1993), National Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disability Act 1999, Charter for Children (2004), National Plan of Action for Children (2005), The National Health Policy (2002, 2016) and the National Mental Health Policy (2014) but none of these adopted CAMH as a policy thrust. • Be the Change. Project - Udalum Naanam
      • Jan 2022 - Mar 2022

Need of the Project - Problem Statement: For the Kids is a project that was initiated during the pandemic to work towards arresting learning loss for students who have devices but do not have access to teachers. We worked in bridging the learning loss by leveraging our passionate volunteers to sow the fruits of knowledge and development. Once schools reopened, there was a need for us to expand ourselves beyond this. While we delved deep into the community and schools, we realised the lack of awareness among students on various waves of abuse that they are prone to and therefore leading to the inability to communicate the same about it. The teachers within the classroom felt they were not well equipped to educate the children about sexual abuse and therefore believed an intervention would be ideal. What can be done - Solution Statement: The project aims to intervene in various classrooms and create awareness among the students on child sexual abuse and how they can protect themselves. It aims to build more mindful and confident superheroes.Outcomes: 1. Awareness about private parts and how to protect the same 2. How to Say 'NO' and prevent such vulnerable situations3. Awareness on their trusted source of the network to reach when they face abuse4. Building a generation of aware and courageous humans that would be able to protect them and others around themWhere was Udalum Naanm Successful:-1. Creation of grade-appropriate modules and resources Intervention in multiple schools and communities 2. Research and interact with the stakeholders for need analysis 3. Well-structured plans and schedules for follow-up sessions 4. Reaching 600+ students 5. Collaboration with other fellows to widen the reach of the sessions and fasten the process Show less
