I was responsible for researching and developing content ideas and assigning stories to journalists. I proposed and developed the strategy for Pachikoro Online Magazine website www.pachikoro.co.zw to be promoted via social media and this increased organic and paid traffic to the website. I trained primary and secondary school children how to write news stories for their schools, take photos, capture videos and submit to Pachikoro Online Magazine via email or social media applications. This resulted in Pachikoro Online Magazine increasing its reach and number of stories. This training was important in teaching the school children how to use digital tools to advocate and promote for a society that is discrimination free and to fight against social injustices. Some of the stories that I wrote and published in the magazine were also published in the Suburban newspaper. The press releases I wrote for CCIBCA and Dan Church Aid (DCA)’s donations to Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home in Mzilikazi suburb in Bulawayo resulted in more donations being made to the children’s home. Nongovernmental organisations and numerous companies realised that children’s homes and orphanages face problems and thus donated to the home. I took videos of people living with HIV/AIDS being taught about the benefits of herbal teas, uploaded them to CCBICA social media pages and this resulted in food aid and donations being made to these people. I taught students on work related learning how to design brochures, newsletters and other promotional material. I was key in the creation and execution of an internal communication strategy for CCBICA branches that helped in the execution of CCBICA nutrition walk from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls. Show less
