Mental Work is a scientific art project that explores both the excitement and fear of the rapid evolution of neuroscientific technology in our society. It took the form of an art-science exhibition, website and events scheduled from September 2017 to June 2018 at EPFL (Lausanne) and Swissnex (San Francisco). Mental Work will then travel throughout the world to be presented at scientific museums and festivals. Subject: Neural correlates of error monitoring: a combined EEG-fMRI studyDescriptive: Errors both endogenous (committed by the subject) and exogenous (committed by an external agent) generate similar anterior midline negative scalp potentials such as the error-related negativity (ERN), the feedback-related negativity (FRN) or the N2. Conclusion: Using an EEG-informed fMRI analysis, this project tried to locate the common neural mechanisms of this family of event-related potentials and found that the anterior cingulate cortex is a possible source of error monitoring.
