  I am studying how macrophages negatively impact medical bioimplants. In particular, I study the mechanism of the formation of foreign body giant cells that impair the durability of implants. We utilize different microscopy techniques to study the process of macrophage fusion involved in the process of foreign body reaction. This study may potentially open a new insight to protect the bioimplants from being damaged by the immune system.
