Hans Marius With
Armin is an outstanding expert in simulation technology and digital twins. I have had the pleasure to work with him in the period from 2020 to 2022 where he was reporting to me as part of the Digital Operations team in Gas Solutions, Marine Systems, Wärtsilä. During our time working together Armin did amazing work creating a foundation of applying digital twin technologies in commercial applications. His empathic and good-humored nature in combination with his strong interest in his technical domain makes him both a great team player and very capable cracking difficult challenges on his own. What I thought I had found was a designer who incidentally also had an MSc in CFD. What I got was a passionate simulation- and optimisation specialist who also had four years’ experience and top-notch skills in mechanical design, CAD, and PLM. Supporting R&D of Wärtsilä with fluid dynamics & heat transfer applications, for instance the fuel injection department. Focusing on spray formation, multiphase flow, cavitation and etc. - In nozzle flow, cavitation studies, optimization to reduce wear resulting from cavitation. Multi objective optimization cycles require rapid simulation models which has been achieved with RANS approach towards turbulence modelling. LES turbulence modelling is utilized for further validating. - In Cylinder cold flow/combustion simulation. In order to observe the air fuel ratio etc. during combustion in different engine loads and types (Diesel, spark ignited, HCCI, RCCI etc.) - Charge air box cooler simulation and optimization in order to reduce pressure loss and more efficient heat transfer. - High pressure pump cavitation studyand etc. - Planning/managibg and breaking down projects. - Managing and driving outsourced projects. - Making purchase orders for outsourced projects.Additionally, executing 1D CFD in order to optimise system design and to obtaining dynamic boundary conditions.Utilising optimisation tools (Multi objective pareto design) for better and more robust designs.
