Arjun is a well rounded person. Interactions with him have helped me to widen my thought process and identify structural trends that i might have missed. With his multi disciplinary knowledge, Arjun has in many occasions helped team members to cut the noise. In addition his teaching experience helps to simplify and present complex economic events. Another key characteristic is his eagerness to learn constantly.

As Senior Economist, my primary responsibility is to ascertain future macro trends and their impact on domestic and international markets. This includes predicting outcomes in developed and emerging market currencies and fund flows. I also prepare reports on our stance on various macroeconomic developments and likely sectoral shifts. I helped the team call the deepening of the negative rate structure globally (2015-16) and at present, I predict a continued shift in discourse towards fiscal policy that is currently underway. In this role, I was involved in identifying global macro developments and kept the fund management team abreast of changing macro dynamics, both domestic and global. I was required to provide insight to the team on the language, guidance and intent of central banks on rates and liquidity. Here, I successfully used global macro variables, clubbed with anecdotal evidence, to give the fund management team a heads-up before the occurrences of risk-offs in the markets. My reports helped us see through transiency of the Euro crisis (2012) and I called the onset of currency volatility (2013), monetary divergence (2014) and market's crying wolf on the Yuan fixing (2015). One of my additional areas of responsibility was preparing market presentations for fund managers. Show less

In my first stint at corporate India, I tracked key macro variables and wrote research reports on inflation, industrial production, fiscal and external sectors. I was involved in providing fortnightly updates on banking sector variables and detailed weekly monsoon updates. To tie all of this in perspective, I was involved in building macroeconomic models that made forecasts on the same variables.
