WebGear is my one-man company. Creating (mobile) web applications is what I do. PHP, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript & jQuery, FabricJS, MySQL, I18N and security is what I'm good at. The Your Smart Butler app, currently available for iOS and Android, allows guests of hospitality venues to place orders using their own smartphone. They scan a unique QR code, then the menu of the venue they're at appears on the screen. From there, they can place an order. The order is sent to the bar or kitchen, where it appears on a screen (iPad), on a paper receipt (receipt printer) or in the POS register. Guests who don't have (or are not willing to) installed our app, can use any other QR code scanner. In that case a simplified mobile website appears on their phone. This simplified version has been optimized to support as many types of phones as possible, from an old Nokia N95 or Blackberry to a modern Galaxy S4 or iPhone 5. Users who do have our app installed are served with a full-fledged mobile website that's displayed in a WebView. Here, focus is on speed (using pre-caching techniques, compression, etc) and integration with social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare. I have created both versions of the Your Smart Butler app, which has taught me a great deal about compatibility, speed, caching techniques and other optimizations. Skills: HTML5, CSS, Mobile websites, geo positioning, server- and client side caching, security, I18N (support for ltr and rtl languages, for example), testing the mobile website on many phones via Perfecto Mobile etc. Besides the App, I am responsible for implementing the so called VenueCenter, where venue-owners manage the back-end of their Your Smart Butler subscription: create hierarchical menus, define serving periods, manage social media accounts, manage security and much more. Skills: HTML5, browser compatibility issues, speed, usability, inline help, I18N, writing documentation (Dutch and English) etc. Show less
