Lab Assistant
-
Sep 2015 - Jun 2018
As a Lab Assistant, I helped to represent the face of the lab when collecting specimen from patients and interacting with clinical staff. Being kind, personable, and professional is paramount to making what could be a very uncomfortable experience into a pleasant interaction. Beyond interacting with patients and coworkers, being a good Lab Assistant required quickly and accurately interpreting orders and specimen requirements with a high-level attention to detail. I rarely made mistakes and learned to multi-task, improvise as appropriate, and problem solve. Show less

Barista

Nov 2013 - Sep 2015
My main responsibility as a barista at Starbucks is to ensure the customer has an enjoyable experience. I greet every person as they enter, take their order and payment in a fast, friendly manner, and prepare food and drink to exacting specifications. There is often an element of problem solving to this process, whether it be identifying what the customer is looking for, fixing something that doesn't taste quite perfect, or troubleshooting the computer and machines. The ability to work well with all sorts of people, including customers and coworkers, is imperative. Show less

Co-Curator, In a Time of Change: Trophic Cascades
-
Jun 2013 - Sep 2013
As co-curator for the In a Time of Change: Trophic Cascades art show, I oversaw and managed ten jury-selected artists during the final months leading up to the exhibition. This included problem-solving with artists to ensure work was completed in a timely manner, and facilitating communication between artists, scientists, writers, and the photographer. I developed print media using Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel and Word to create postcards, brochures, and a tri-fold brochure. To build and maintain a website, I used Google Sites and edited audio files, created slideshows, manipulated photos, and linked to other sites. Installing the show included working with gallery staff to sequence, hang, and light work, as well as building pedestals and helping artists realize their vision with the limitations of the gallery.
