Conference Delegate/CA Roundtable Leader
-
Jun 2017 - Jul 2017
Selected as one of 25 out of thousands of applicants to represent California at the national level. Researched and drafted two proposals to reform our national immigration system after extensive hours of training and criticism. Debated over hundreds of student proposals. Passed my proposal through every committee and achieved a place in the final plenary session, where the top ten proposals out of 600+ are debated and voted on. My proposal outlined a comprehensive path to citizenship for any undocumented immigrant that had resided in the U.S. for five years or longer and had no history of violent crime. As roundtable leader: ran delegation meetings, guiding delegates in reflecting on their debate sessions, their own character, and their future goals; providing support for delegates in need. Youth Governor
-
Feb 2016 - Jul 2017
Elected out of twelve candidates by over 1700 delegates to serve as the first party-unaffiliated and undocu youth governor in our program’s history. Presided over multiple joint sessions of over 3500 youth delegates, which included running elections and orating. Served as the face of California’s Youth & Government program, which included attending, networking, and often speaking at, hundreds of luncheons, banquets, and networking events.Researched and drafted executive orders based on my platform which focused on reforming five structures, and policies within these, in California: the environment, education, healthcare, criminal justice, and immigration. Analyzed hundreds of senate and assembly bills, signing the most outstanding bills which were forwarded to Gov. Jerry Brown to be presented in our state senate and assembly.Compared, reviewed, and approved one of the proposed California budgets tailored to my platform objectives, which orchestrated dozens of community improvement programs and a revenue surplus. Lead the Future Leaders Campaign Youth Division and helped fundraise $260,000 for scholarships. Show less

Conference Delegate/CA Conference Life Committee Representative
-
Jun 2016 - Jul 2016
Selected as one of 25 out of thousands of applicants to represent California at the national level. Researched and drafted two proposals to reform our national immigration system after extensive hours of training and criticism. Debated hundreds of student proposals. Served as the Conference Life Committee Representative for my state’s delegation; met every morning to discuss inconsistencies within the program. Drafted in collaboration with other California delegates over a dozen resolutions in an attempt to improve the conference in the coming years. Proposed and passed a resolution for the Conference Life Committee, which required a ⅚ majority to pass, to make meal prayers non-denominational in place of Christianity. Proposed and unfortunately failed to eliminate the requirement to attend non-secular evening devotions, however, with the support of CA delegates, I opened the conversation to reinvent the purpose of the evening gatherings altogether.
