- After observing gaps in the University's existing course offerings and curriculum, and conducting research on unmet needs of undergraduate students, I presented a proposal for an upper level undergraduate course to a team of faculty. I created and taught my course, Decolonial Approaches to International Relations, with the sponsorship of the University's Political Science department. I taught my class based on alternative and community based approaches to education, where I created opportunities for practical and hands-on learning for my students, in addition to conducting evaluations and teaching weekly class sessions. Much of this course was inspired by teaching methodologies proposed by Paulo Freire's and bell hooks’ theories on alternative and community based education. Show less
