The CSIWM project (a consortium of Ethiopian Universities and Dutch stakeholders) faced an information shortage regarding the adoption of innovative agricultural technologies as well as soil and water conservation (SWC) measures in the Tigray province in Ethiopia. One vehicle through which local government and development actors alike work to extend these technologies and measures is the extension model, which selects model farmers that educate, lead and support other farmers to adopt innovation. My thesis research set out to document the existing farming technologies and SWC measures of model farmers in the region through key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and qualitative interviews.
