Investment Tools is a London-based fintech I co-founded in 2011. This has at its core a global dividend-prediction algorithm. On top of this data we provide tools which allow investors to find high-yielding stocks based on the timing of these dividends. Our tools and data are used throughout the industry in several high-profile retail and institutional banks as well as funds and to other Fintechs. I co-founded Cake in October 2013 when it was just an idea (then called Spleat). In February 2015 Spleat merged with another mobile start up and was rebranded to Cake which sold to AMEX in 2017. https://techcrunch.com/2018/03/23/american-express-eats-cake/ As CTO I managed a development team, hiring developers and designers, running sprint planning sessions, ensuring the business delivered on several concurrent streams (Android development, iPhone development, POS integrations, back-end functionality, new venues, etc). From the initial concept I developed the iPhone app and the Ruby on Rails based API and backend. This included integration with Facebook, Google, Braintree Amazon and Heroku. Once the iPhone app was released I developed the Android app, achieving feature parity and releasing to the Google Play store. Throughout the time working here I continued adding more features to the apps and back-end, further expanding reporting and admin tools, and integrating with multiple Point of Sales systems. I remained the sole developer for the entire system while Spleat went through multiple fund-raising and rapid user growth. Further I integrated with various third party systems, including Micros, Software Solutions, PointOne, ICR, IBS and Squirrel. During this time Cake was also commissioned to develop a mobile payment app for Veuve Clicquot which I developed the back-end payment system for, and further development iterations on the iPhone app (written in Swift). Middle-office development involved in building an internal risk system. Overhauled the entire system to operate significantly faster and more efficiently, reduced load time by several factors and refactored to operate across all platforms and browsers.
