Kavous was a highly qualified K-12 instructor and was also a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley, working with the nuclear engineering department and the Accelerator and Fusion Research Division. He was also involved in a variety of humanitarian efforts, such as building and delivering humanitarian solar suitcases to Kenya with his students.
