I was a Staff RN on an Orthopedic/Neuro Unit with some med/surg mixed in from time to time. I was the relief charge nurse on several occasions. Once for 8 weeks straight and every other weekend or when the regular charge nurses took leave or were ill. I was also a preceptor for new graduates, new employees and student nurses. I started off working here as a patient care tech for 7 months until I finished RN school in May 2000, where I started working as an RN on a med-surg floor for 1 year, I was then quickly offered a job on the Acute Care Rehabilitation floor. I was quickly moved into the Charge RN position on day shift as the previous charge nurse left the hospital. I did this for about 3 years while also stepping in as an interim nurse manager for a while keeping track of the schedule, employee competencies, and from time to time counselings.
