I’m currently working at The Southport School (TSS) on a contract till the end of the year. I’m teaching Years 7-10 Art consisting of seven classes, and sporadically covering Senior Art. Whilst working at TSS I’ve gained insight into the Inquiry Learning pedagogical framework, inclusive teaching styles, unit building, appraising and making task constructing, the use of educational resources and practical teaching techniques. By focusing on arts teaching techniques and processes I’ve gained new insight into creating a more inclusive classroom, and built on my professional practice. Due to the current QCAA Overall Position (OP) system being replaced by the Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking System (ATAR), I’ve had the opportunity to manage transitioning classes within a short time period. I efficiently organised resources, and created structured lessons to support and extend students, and included appropriate behaviour management strategies. This resulted in increased student engagement and productivity in the classroom. Show less

Hughenden State School had 140 students whilst I was teaching, with a large number of students with learning, behaviour or trauma needs, ASD and intellectual disabilities.
