  The main sectors that I have been involved in are the following: - Contribution of energy storage to frequency regulation, power system adequacy, RES penetration in the generation mix, system cost & congestion management services - Energy markets rules & regulatory framework - RES hosting capacity in island systems Specifically, some of the projects that I have been working on, are mentioned below: - Support to the Greek authorities in the development of the regulatory framework for storage in Greece, by supporting the Storage Task Force appointed by the Ministry of Energy - Support scheme for battery projects in the mainland power system via competitive tenders (supporting its formation and notification to European Commission), identification of additional services by storage facilities and framework for RES integration (for the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Greek TSO IPTO S.A., 2021-2022) - RES hosting capacity on the island of Crete (for the Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy – RAE, 2020) - Capacity adequacy and evaluation of solutions (diesel/LNG/renewable generation and storage) for the system of Crete, in its current autonomous and future interconnected state (for the Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy – RAE, 2019) Show less

  During my employment at HEnEx (former LAGIE), I have gained experience in the current form of the Greek Electricity Market (Day-Ahead Schedule – DAS), as well as in the upcoming Market Coupling at pan-European level, in compliance with the Target Model. The main subjects I have been working on are the following: - Having the role of the Market Operator of the Greek Electricity Market, in the context of which the DAS is solved on a daily basis. - Drafting the Market Operator Manual, containing the main & back-up procedures of the Day-Ahead Market. - Participation in the reviewing process of the Spot Markets (Day-Ahead, Intra-Day and Balancing) Detailed Level Market Designs, and Codes/Rulebooks, as well as in addressing the Market Participant’s comments in the abovementioned documents at the relevant public consultation. - Mapping of the Day-Ahead & Intra-Day Market procedures at pan-European level. - Conduction of a study regarding the management of hydro units' production of the period 12/2016-04/2018, via analyzing relevant DAS data, such as orders, trades, variable costs, lake levels, etc. - Conduction on a monthly basis of the Day-Ahead Trading System Report and its publication.   I worked at the Generation Development & Management Section of the Islands Network Operation Department of HEDNO S.A., the Greek DSO and the Operator of the Non-Interconnected Island Power Systems (NIIS). During my employment at HEDNO, I have been involved in the implementation of the NIIS Management Code in many fields, some of which are mentioned below: - Proposing improvements, while studying the current practice, of the management of thermal, as well as RES production of NIIS, such as Rhodes, Kos - Kalymnos, Samos, Paros, Limnos, Patmos, etc. For this cause, the results of Day-Ahead Schedules (DAS) for these systems have been used. - NII Power System Planning which is submitted on a yearly basis to the Regulatory Authority of Energy (RAE), the objective of which is the definition of the type and size of the thermal generating units to be installed in a 7 year horizon in each one of the 32 NIIS. - Forecasting on a monthly basis load demand, load peak, RES production (Wind Parks, PV, Biomass, Hydro Plant), thermal production, oil consumption, CO2 emissions, Variable Cost (VC) and Total Cost (TC) of each NIIS. - Emergency Situations Response Plan of NIIS, which was also submitted to RAE. - Methodology of calculating the representation percentage of each Load Representative, as well as the necessary guarantees in order to participate in NIIS Market.   During my internship at PPC S.A. Ι participated at tests conducted to electrical equipment such as short circuit testing at power transformers and testing of functionality of switching equipment. I also learned about calibration of measuring equipment, measurements via Data Acquisition LDS - GENESIS, and the software package PERCEPTION which is used for monitoring the testing of the equipment. Moreover, Ι contributed to the digitization of the facilities of the high power generator, using CADDY ++. Show less
