To whom it may concern: I know Apolline Gaignard through professional and personal interactions involving student activity groups and coursework over the past 2 ½ years. Through our professional association interactions I have gotten to know her well. She consistently impresses me with her critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, organization, and leadership skills. She enrolled in one course I have taught, HTM*2070: Meetings and Convention Management. The course focused on critical analytic skill development, theoretical foundations in hospitality studies, and applied industry usage. Apolline was an excellent student who excelled in teamwork and leadership. For example, her in-class group dynamics were excellent in the course; and I know from her peers’ feedback and the support those students gave Apolline when she decided to run for PCMA President that they were as impressed with her as I was. This brings me to my next point. Apolline has also been heavily involved in an on-campus hospitality organization I serve as the advisor for: PCMA. Apolline was selected to the position of President by her peers. This is a prestigious role that Apolline has been simply fantastic in! I believe Apolline’s leadership qualities, teamwork skills, attention to detail, and easy to get along with personality have established her as a hospitality person with a skill set suited for industry success. As I have been an Assistant General Manager with Hilton in my past and now been in academia for seven years I am seeing which students are geared for industry and post-graduation successes. Apolline is without a doubt in this category. I recommend Apolline without reservations. Sincerely, Justin Taillon Assistant Professor School of Hospitality & Tourism Management University of Guelph 50 Stone Road East, Macs 205 Guelph, Ontario, Canada N1G 2W1
