I started an initiative, Nazariya (the word Nazariya literally translates to ‘Perspective) Foundation, with an aim to spread awareness about Menstruation and to break the taboos around it. These beliefs have limited girls’ potential for centuries and my strong drive to do something about it led to the birth of Nazariya. The initiative was started in February 2017 and had now reached out to over 3000 students across 4 states in India. The work at Nazariya is 3 fold : Workshops in government schools for students of classes 6-8 along with their teachers so as to address the topics of Puberty, Biological aspects of Menstruation, Menstrual hygiene, and the importance of questioning what they find wrong (with a special emphasis on menstrual taboos); Online platforms to strike conversations around the topic; Independent events and collaborations to create open discussion platforms to talk about Menstruation and its taboos. The events also emphasize on imparting information and resources about sustainable menstruation and benefits of making the switch. Show less
