I have focused on the endosymbiont Wolbachia and investigated its presence in arthropods. Following the screening of 27 insects (n=27) I found one weakly positive (Playpleura octoguttata) and two strongly positive (Metochus uniguttatus and Velarifictorus micado) with Wolbachia, which represents a frequency of 11.11%. The identified wolbachia from Metochus uniguttatus was confirmed to be supergroup B. The following molecular techniques were employed: insect dna extraction using phenol chloroform method, 16s wspec pcr, ftsz pcr, CO1 pcr, pcr purification, dna sequencing. Computational techniques: NCBI blast, sequence analysis using Sequencher 5.4.6 to check sequence quality, alignment and chromatogram of contigs. Show less

Project Title: Investigation of Anti-inflammatory and Immunomodulatory Effects of Methanolic Extracts of Fenugreek Leaves and Seed to Justify its Use in Topical Creams for Preventing Inflammation and Joint-Pain. Description: Preparation of crude extracts of Fenugreek leaves and seed by Soxhlet. Phytochemical detection and preliminary screening of Fenugreek secondary metabolites, such as, Flavonoids, Alkaloids, Phenolics, Steroids, Terpenoids, Saponins, etc., followed by depiction of its anti-inflammatory (Using Hemolysis Inhibition, Hyposaline Induced Hemolysis Inhibition and Protein Denaturation Inhibition Assays) and antioxidant properties (using DPPH Assay) and its eventual use in formulating a medicinal cream.
