The legal services team acts as in-house counsel to the Ombudsman through providing critical support to the OO’s operations. The team assists the OO in maintaining credibility with the public and a high degree of effectiveness in responding to individual and systemic complaints about provincial government services and municipal closed meetings. Articling students assist in all aspects of the work of the legal services team: • Conducting legal research and providing legal opinions on jurisdictional and other legal issues • Drafting documents (e.g. memoranda, reporting letters, letters to government bodies and complainants) • Conducting analysis of Bills before the Legislative Assembly • Assisting in the review, investigation and resolution of complaints (this includes interviewing witnesses, identifying issues, analyzing evidence and preparing draft reports and recommendations)
