In 2011 a leading Nordic bank wanted to transform its Trade Finance business and accordingly decided to implement the TI+ / MTP package from a global banking solutions provider. The project had been running for a year, but there were problems with the package and conflict between the bank and vendor teams. It reached a point where personnel changes were made on both sides. Antti was appointed by the bank as its new project manager and I was brought in as the new vendor project manager, and our shared objective was to turn the project around and implement as planned. Antti quickly develops good working relationships at both the senior Executive level as well as at the project level. He is a great communicator, and worked with the teams to quickly rework the project plan into something that was achievable and that all parties bought into. He held daily stand-up scrums to keep on top of progress and issues, and motivated the teams to put in additional effort / overtime whenever there was any shortfall against the plan. He empowered his team and they responded positively and took responsibility for delivering to Antti's plan. Antti developed an excellent working relationship with the vendor team and the outsourced infrastructure team, and it was his insistence that all parties, senior management, project staff and suppliers work as one team to the common objective that was instrumental in the team overcoming the obstacles and successfully implementing the plan.
