Work in Geneva consisted mainly of duties related to the ILO's decent work agenda. Aim was to make future global working life as good as possible. In concrete terms, my main tasks and responsibilities were linked to the Finnish membership in the ILO’s tripartite Governing Body, and all related preparation, cooperation and coordinating work. One highlight was the Finnish EU-presidency in 2019, during which we organized a broad Future of Work Summit. By planning and realizing this initiative I did and learned a lot about the importance of networking. In a similar international project, the significance of good connections and fluent collaboration cannot be underestimated. I also managed to wrote a couple of articles and blogs during this period (those interested, search them eg. via my LinkedIn flow). Daily languages used, in addition to Finnish, were English and French. And as the Nordic cooperation is an inseparable part of our ILO-cooperation, it was also nice to rehearse Swedish time to time.
