  I started as technology manager for Telecoms in the Philips Mobile Infotainment unit (including mobile phone† cluster). The role extended to technology manager for Wireless/Wired Connectivity and Telecoms for the whole Philips Audio & Video Multimedia unit (including all portable and stationary audio/video products). The role involved working together with the Philips audio and video experts and an army of different internal and external stakeholders to drive consumer-centric product innovation and company growth within the area of connectivity and telecommunications. Amongst others, tasks and responsibilities included: • Defining wireless/wired connectivity and telecoms technology roadmaps and strategy • Defining and underpinning product roadmaps together with the corresponding marketing managers • Monitoring at different level the trends, standards and initiatives in current and emerging technologies, including, but not restricted to, the following: 3GPP, GSMA, Femto Forum, Bluetooth SIG, WiFi Alliance, DLNA, UPnP Forum, WirelessHD Consortium, NFC Forum, Continua Health Alliance, IPSO Alliance, Homegrid Forum/ITU G.hn, eHealth/mHealth/mWallet/M2M initiatives, Internet of Things, DRM, Digital TV, application frameworks... • Planning innovation and know-how generation projects in the connectivity/telecoms area • Leading key innovation and know-how generation projects in the connectivity/telecoms area • Product benchmarking • Architecture definition and feasibility studies • Interfacing to internal and external research and innovation sources (open innovation) • Scouting and selecting key HW/SW suppliers within connectivity/telecoms area • Defining high level requirements and specifications for the wireless and telecoms technologies used in the products (customer, marketing and functional requirement specifications) • Interfacing with project managers and external ODM/OEMs for wireless/telecoms technologies matters Show less
