Antonia and Participation People have embodied their motto

Harris Lorie

Antonia is the most passionate person about youth voice and participation that I have met. She has offered a highly professional and personal service to Spirit of 2012 as we have worked together to set up and run our first Youth Advisory Panel. Members of our panel have greatly valued her training, coaching and the level of personal interest she has shown in each of them. Antonia is sensitive to the issues which organisations face as they strive to incorporate young people’s voices in their governance and decision-making, and her wealth of experience in this area means that she can offer reassuring guidance with just the right level of strategic challenge. Her energy and drive is infectious, and unfailingly lights up any meeting or initiative that she is a part of.

DRIP is an organisation that helps rural families live sustainably in Eastern Uganda. We manage international trips of volunteers. We train them in both building skills and horticultural education. They work in partnership with Ugandan teams to build 100 rain water harvesting tanks and teach 1000 families in two weeks. This allows families to water their plants in the rainy season, feed their families and sell extra produce to earn an income to send their children to school. I am the Trustee responsible for major projects and partnerships.
