  ResusRight was an Australian startup that aims to improve outcomes for infants that need resuscitation at birth by creating technology that empowers clinicians to deliver high quality care. As the Principal Software Engineer, I was responsible for the design and development of the software and firmware for our training and clinical devices. I lead a software team conducting regular sprints, code reviews, retros and feature kick-offs in accordance with development timelines and milestones. I also conducted performance reviews for the team and helped guide, skill-up and mentor the wider engineering team. Key responsibilities and achievements during my tenure were: - Designed and implemented embedded firmware and software applications across multiple platforms including ARM-based microcontrollers, embedded Linux devices, desktop and cloud-based targets. - Developed and maintained C# applications for data analysis and visualisation to be used by clinicians and researchers. - Managed software timelines and tasks to ensure on-time delivery of features and the meeting of critical milestones for funding and grants. - Navigated ISO 13486 and IEC 62304 guidelines and regulations in order to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions and templates to comply with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. - Conducted requirements analyses for our products, as well as took part in Hazards Analysis and DFMEAs. - Plan and conducted verification and validation activities across prototypes and clinical trial devices. - Evaluated and selected critical electrical components for our products utilising multi-criteria decision-making techniques. - Supported internal development across all engineering departments by advising and deploying tools and resources locally and in the cloud, including Soldiworks PDM, Git and Notion templates. - Took part in usability testing and user interviews, recording feedback and assessing feature requests, Show less

As the Senior Implementation Engineer, I was responsible for the strategic oversight and implementation of technology solutions across our client's global supply chains. The role also includes system design review, internal R&D, stakeholder management, regular C-level updates and commercial negotiations. Key achievements and projects during my tenure: - Rollout of a traceability system across a fleet of prawn trawlers for a large Australian fishery. A solution that was delivered within budget, on time and mitigated the risk and cost of product recalls, saving the client approximately $8m annually. - Leading the R&D in palm oil traceability for Nestlé, including the selection, physical deployment and evaluation of several IoT solutions to trace the first-mile of palm fruit in Mexico. - Development of a custom solar-powered sensor payload and firmware (C++) on an LTE CAT M1 platform to monitor water quality. - Satellite imagery analysis in Python to monitor vegetation of farmland at scale.   RAMP is an ISO-9001:2008 certified Australian company who specialise in wireless RFID solutions for real-time tracking, locating and management of assets. They help businesses streamline their processes, reduce operational costs and inherently increase revenue. As a Software Engineer and then Technical Services Manager, I was responsible for the hardware design and software development of RFID solutions for deployment at client sites. I also managed the support and onsite maintenance for critical clients. Key achievements and projects during my tenure: - Design, deployment and support of an industry-leading RFID solution in industrial laundries. Reduced stock count times by 90% and brought about unprecedented stock clarity. - Oversaw and managed the implementation of a keg tracking solution for a large Australian beverage company. Reduced keg operating costs by $200,000 per year. - Designed and developed an innovative RFID read point installed on a portside crane for a large mining company. Large containers of ore were detected as they were unloaded into the hull of a large ship. This data was used as a piece of critical infrastructure to stop the mixing of product. - Design, deployment and support of a bus tracking and dynamic bus bay allocation system for a Perth Transit Authority. The system ensured the most efficient operation of the new underground Perth bus port and delivered airport-style departure gate information for passengers. - Development of client facing applications, industrial HMI and middleware using C#, .NET, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and SQLite databases. - Migration of applications and internal libraries to .NET Core to allow for use across different operating systems and environments. - Migration of on-premise applications and servers to the cloud using Azure VMs, Azure DB and Azure API hosting. - Cross-platform application development utilising Xamarin to target Android, iOS and Windows devices.   The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is the federal government agency for scientific research in Australia. As a summer vacation student, I was tasked with a research project of my own to complete within the area of Cognitive Informatics. In order to complete this I was required to: - Propose an appropriate research question and topic in the area of Cognitive Informatics. - Conduct a literature review of all related prior research. - Design and conduct experiments that adequately test the research hypothesis. - Compile results into a research report that is to be presented at a CSIRO research conference. The aim of my research project was to compare overt and covert attention in humans by tracking their gaze as well as monitoring their brain activity. To achieve this I: - Applied for and successfully obtained human ethical clearance within CSIRO in order to conduct experiments using human subjects. - Integrated EEG and gaze tracking hardware for synchronous data capture. - Developed and modified software packages in Python. As a result of my work a conference paper was submitted to and published by the 2014 IEEE 13th International Conference on Cognitive Informatics & Cognitive Computing (ICCI*CC). Show less
