  I started with OFMC at checkout, collecting copays and payments from patients. When a position became available in the billing department, it was offered to me. At the time OFMC was one office, and the billing department four people. The business has since quadrupled in size: fifteen billers and coders, and a fifth office currently in development. With the increase came the need to learn the niche market of Personal Injury Protection medical billing. With over 400 active auto cases at any given time, it became essential to stay in contact with each person's injury attorney, exchanging updates on case and treatment status. Show less

  I spent seven years working with my father, who owned and operated the business. A small business, we ranged from 5-15 employees at any given time, depending on the strength of the market and economy. Working primarily as a foreman and concrete finisher, this was one of the most relevant times in my life for learning my own short-comings: I am not a mason.
