Tony's tenure at AGY overlapped with mine for over 14 years. During that time he was a very frequent resource for technical inquiries that assisted me in my role interacting with customers. Tony was quick to respond and provided thorough and confident responses which were often shared directly with customers. Tony's preparation and support during specialized production campaigns were invaluable. He's has been central to the establishment of several new product lines based on novel glass chemistries. It was a pleasure working with Tony over this period and certainly helped me be more effective in my role.

I’ve had the privilege to work with Anthony Longobardo on two separate occasions. Once while I was at SYNSIL Products where he was my Customer and once where I provided advisement to him and his group through PrIDE Resources. Anthony is an incredibly dedicated scientist who knows the ins and outs of his work, both at the technical level as well as at the manufacturing level. It has always been a pleasure to work with him and I always look forward to the next opportunity. He knows what needs to be accomplished, how to get there and how to get the most out of his team. A true leader.

Joined the Advanced Technology Dept. at PPG's Glass R&D Center (Pittsburgh, PA) after completing graduate work at Alfred. Immediately began working on new glass compositions and becoming familiar with float glass technology. PPG was a fantastic place to start a career in glass as a young scientist. At that time, PPG had many highly experienced experts and a tremendous amount of knowledge and data to draw upon. Key contributions while at PPG: - Co-invented Solarban 20/20(TM) -- the glass that revolutionized the automotive privacy glazing market (dark glass in rear of vans and SUVs). - Co-invented GL-20(TM) -- Changed aesthetic of privacy glass from a reflective-coated glass to a dark black, non-coated glass. Designers loved this product since it gave the vehicle a highly desirable "blacked-out" look. - 6 patents generated Show less

I had the privilege of being invited to complete my PhD research on IR Transmitting Fluoride Glasses at Hoya Corp. R & D Center, Akishima-shi, Tokyo by Director Dr. Tetsuro Izumitani. Spending a year in Japan was both challenging and very rewarding. And it goes without saying... one of the most memorable in my life.
