I was invited to join the company for a 3 month period to help me further understand the Chemical tanker shipping industry. I assisted in the operational aspects of the vessel, stows, bunkering, appointing of agents, and given the responsibility of talking to the vessels on a daily basis to re confirm position and any requirements of the Captains and Crews of the ships. I was also given the opportunity to work in the chartering department, learning the different charter parties and the complexity of the clauses and freight agreements made to secure cargoes for the vessels. This experience gave me the opportunity to decide my career path and not only made me aware of the precision required to work in the industry, but also the importance of working as a team.
