As a volunteer User Researcher at Hack for LA, I lead the research team working on the BallotNav project, an initiative to create a tool to help prevent disenfranchisement by providing reliable and up-to-date information on ballot drop-off locations across the US. Some of my key responsibilities are: - Overseeing and managing end-to-end progress on all studies conducted for the project to ensure consistently high-quality output while keeping to deadlines. - Designing and conducting remote moderated & unmoderated usability studies, user interviews, contextual interviews, and surveys to define problems, gather user feedback, and assess designs. - Developing training benchmarks and onboarding materials to ensure that all new researchers have the capacity to participate equitably without compromising the team's output quality. - Liaising with other team leaders & exec stakeholders to discuss project progress, roadblocks, and report on research findings when available. During my time at Hack for LA, I worked across two large, impactful projects that resulted in a website that simplifies the process of contacting one's federal lawmakers and in an organization-wide design system.
