I love this fascinating work! I am learning about the city I live in and working with amazing professional actors who portray characters from Surrey's past. The actors go to festivals throughout the City of Surrey and share stories from their characters' lives. The busiest time is the summer and almost all weekends are booked with events - from the Surrey International Children's Festival to Canada Day to Fusion Festival, and many smaller community events. This year we participated in the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival at City Hall. Show less

As well, I directed award winning plays: Unity (1918) (2008), Burning Vision (2009), Sonny's Song (2010), Blood Relations (2011), Step on a Crack (2012), Halo (2013), Last Chance Leduc (2015). 2014 was my sabbatical year and my research/artistic project was to create and produce Chasing the Dream, the GP Century Play. For Grande Prairie Live Theatre I have directed: Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf (2009) And Up They Flew (2011), Harvest (2013). Show less

Chasing the Dream, the GP Century Play, was created and performed to Celebrate Grande Prairie's 100th Anniversary. The play was a multi-disciplinary outdoor theatre spectacle with multiple stages in the heart of Muskoseepi Park. The audience processed into the site along park trails, led by stilt walkers and the GP Marching Band. The play, in 3 acts, told the stories of the past 100 years, ending with the present complexities of a multicultural city in a boom and bust economy. The cast, of all ages, abilities, and ethnicities, numbered 100. Approximately 3000 people came to enjoy the 4 performances from June 12 to 15, 2014. The stories of the Aboriginal Peoples - the Dunne Za, the Cree and the Metis, formed the foundation of the play. The Century Play project received Federal, Provincial, and Municipal funding, as well a business support through funding and gift in kind donations. Chasing the Dream followed the creation process outlined in the book, Community Plays and How to Put Them On, by Ann Jellico. This way of devising theatre was pioneered in the UK by the Colway Theatre Trust (now Claque Theatre) and brought to Canada in 1990 by Dale Hamilton. There have been over 50 community plays done in Canada. Show less
