I support secondary math teachers and fellows in implementing high-quality mathematics curricula in ways that mirror the math teaching practices (NCTM, 2014) and standards for mathematical practice (CCSSO, 2010), focusing on grade/course-level instruction while embedding opportunities to support students through unfinished learning. As Mathematics coach, I work with mathematics teachers at Central Middle School, to improve instruction and student achievement. Together, teachers and I co-plan lessons, review student data, support each other's implementation of research-supported teaching practices. I work closely with the RtI coordinator and building and district leadership to promote equitable and accessible mathematics teaching. Additionally, I serve on the Capital Equity Team and CMS ILT. This year, I participated in secondary Instructional Rounds through BRINCC, and in Capital Instructional Rounds. This position is funded by a grant from the Delaware Department of Education. Schools were selected to participate based on need in mathematics. Show less

I taught problem-based Integrated Mathematics I, II, and III to freshmen at OCS and collaborated with the freshmen team and administrators to develop the first ever freshmen class at OCS. Additionally, we created a choice advisory, where students signed up to visit the teacher they needed to, work together with classmates on group projects, or work on homework. We also created a mid-term and final exam and PSAT experience for freshmen. I was contracted by Atlantic Research Partners, LLC, where I served as the mathematics instructional coach as part of a highly qualified instructional improvement team at a Chicago Public Schools (CPS) elementary (K-8) school and two high schools. In 2015-2016, I also served as liaison between the team, the Atlantic Research Partners supervisor, and the building administration. As the school-improvement-grant lead partner, we worked closely together to build capacity and ensure the school was improving instruction and school climate. School placement was determined based on school need, coaching strengths, and fit. Show less

    • Mathematics Instructional Coach
      • Mar 2014 - Jun 2015

(part-time, temporary position) I coached mathematics teachers, and worked closely with the department chair to refine and implement the vision we developed Spring 2014 for the direction mathematics instruction should go as they transition to the Common Core and Smarter Balanced Assessment. Our goals for Fall 2014: make active use of Think-Pair-Share (as a starting point for incorporating discussion into the classroom), focus students on connections among representations, and turning students' questions back to the class (rather than the teacher just answering them him/herself).
