    • Research Support Literacy
      • Apr 2013 - Aug 2014

I had the wonderful opportunity to work at the Region of Peel for two consecutive summers (2013 and 2014) with the Early Literacy Team. The bulk of my work was to complete research for the creation of preschool and toddler literacy rating scales, in collaboration with Raising the Bar, to promote literacy in childcare and early learning settings. In helping with this project I enhanced my already sufficient knowledge base on early literacy best practices. Although most of my time was focused on the literacy rating scale I also got many opportunities to plan, coordinate and execute many events where I was able to engage other organizations, children, families and residents of Peel to promote and build healthy communities. This job provided me, not only with the experience to work within a team and collaborate with other organizations but also it allowed me to give my ideas to a number of professionals in order to show them that I will and can take the individual initiative that are needed to ensure deadlines are met and the quality of work is completed to the highest standards.
