In this role I managed communications about COVID-19, and then climate change. It was an excellent opportunity to learn more about tikanga and the importance of Aotearoa avoiding a 'one size fits all' approach to communication for things like COVID-19 vaccinations. Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Manager
-
Apr 2019 - Feb 2021
My role was to manage communications and engagement for the reinstatement. This was much more than providing information about the ‘what, when, why and how’. It was also about providing opportunities for people to reconnect with the Cathedral throughout the reinstatement process. My goal was to bring the project to life for people; this is especially important for longer-term projects like the Cathedral. I lead all the engagement activity, including public displays and events, EDM campaigns, media, website and social media. Show less

Communications and Stakeholder Relations Manager
-
May 2011 - Mar 2015
As an Executive Leadership Team member, I had five direct reports and 40 functional reports. SCIRT was an unprecedented and virtual model of organisation, based on an Alliance Agreement between national and local government and five civil engineering contractors, requiring collaboration between these former competitors. With reporting requirements to New Zealand Transport Agency, Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority and Christchurch City Council, and an interrelated schedule of over 700 projects to repair and rebuild Christchurch’s massively damaged horizontal infrastructure, the scale of the communication and engagement needs were also complex and unprecedented. This all occurred in a highly volatile environment, physically, politically and psychologically, while the earthquakes were still happening. Show less
