Toy Library co-ordinator
-
Apr 2005 - Jan 2012
Working as a Toy Library Co-ordinator was a varied role which promoted the importance of bonding and play within the early years of a child’s life. It gave the opportunity to extend play and learning both within the home and within the community. Giving parents the tools and knowledge to give their child both enjoyment and learning together. I led some very successful groups including play sessions for parents and their children, Baby groups such as twins cub and a very motivated Parents Forum. With my guidance and organisation the Parents Forum had wonderful fun days, Christmas events, walks and many fundraising opportunities. The maintenance of the stock, cleaning, ordering and monitoring was part of this role. This role also gave the opportunity to highlight the other specialist services available to families within the Children’s Centre.

Youth residential support worker
-
Apr 2007 - Sep 2011
Residential support worker for 8-19yr olds. I worked all over the Staffordshire district in assessment units. Giving support and guidance to children and young people during their assessment period within the care system. I was involved with their daily living skills, Education and promoting respect for themselves and others. The assessment period identified the next steps with the end goal in sight of being safely returned to their home life, if deemed appropriate. The role involved dealing with challenging behaviours and also highly emotional situations which commanded an ability to communicate calmly and effectively with alternating situations. Keeping the young person at the heart of everything I did helped to achieve their best outcomes.
