I assisted Regional Board staff with the review of environmental reports and analytical soil and groundwater data to assess the quality of groundwater in LA County. I created geological cross-sections and contour maps based on boring logs and groundwater data, and I ran contaminant fate and transport models in order to assess environmental conditions and support the regulation of subsurface remediation. I prepared public communication letters and reports. I also assessed potential cases referred to the Regional Board by local agencies, and maintained the public database (GeoTracker).

Teaching Associate and Research Assistant

I taught geologic concepts and their applications to classes of 30+ undergraduate students through interactive instruction in weekly lectures, labs and one-on-one instruction. My duties included development, preparation, presentation and assessment of class materials, laboratory activities and course examinations. I was responsible for equipment management and material inventory. I taught and supervised lab safety practices. I also acted as a coordinator and a peer learning facilitator for additional instruction during geology field trips. I assisted Dr. Heermance in his research involving stratigraphy and paleomagnetism. My work at the paleomagnetic lab included sample preparation and processing, data collection and analysis, and laboratory equipment maintenance. I performed reconnaissance research including literature review, map production and field activity coordination. I also assisted with various field research projects involving the San Andreas Fault in Southern California, as well as paleoclimatic fluctuation in western China. I presented the research on climatic fluctuation as an oral presentation at the American Geophysical Union conference in 2016.

I assisted Regional Board staff with field and laboratory work for the collection, processing and analysis of surface water samples in order to determine surface water quality, and to identify potential contaminant point and non-point sources. My duties included GIS map generation, data entry, and sample collection, transportation, and analysis. I maintained written field logs for surface water data including water levels and chemical parameters. I performed field equipment calibration and maintenance. I also prepared informational fact sheets and newsletters for public water quality information outreach.

Professional Education Program Coordinator

I was part of a team which offers professional education courses in decision making and project management. For on campus programs, I managed classes for intensive week long courses and organized graduation and reception events. Daily tasks included compiling reports, creating online courses and exams, updating the SCPD website, and participating in long-term strategy meetings. I was a member of the Supplies Attack Team, which tracked and replenished program/office supplies. I was also a member of the SCPD Citizen’s Committee, which recognizes employees for outstanding work, organizes team building opportunities, and develops events to better the role of SCPD in the larger Stanford community.
