ICARE offers educational, social, and vocational assistance for adolescents experiencing anger management concerns and exhibiting self-depreciating behaviors. Our workshops and facilitators educate clients in the qualities needed for constructive personal interaction and successful participation in their community. The training also encourages the development of new, appropriate resources and opportunities for continued support in behavior modification through mentoring and community service.

I am a special education/inclusion teacher who provides academic services to students withspecial needs. In addition to ensuring that the Individual Education Plans of my caseload of students are understood, developed, and met, I also implement the inclusion/resource model and support all students in the inclusion classrooms that I serve. In these classes, I work jointly with the lead Co-teachers assigned to the classrooms. Furthermore, I am a Resource teacher where I lead instruction in several fundamentals courses to assist students in gaining, retaining and strengthening their skills in reading, writing and grammar. Through all these functions as my role as a special education teacher, I assist my campus in creating a safe learning environment where students accommodations and modifications are implemented and monitored.

In addition to supporting students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities, I adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects, such as reading, writing, social studies and math to students with mild and moderate disabilities. I also teach basic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques as well as daily living skills to students with severe disabilities. Furthermore I develop and chair extra-curricular activities for all students to further their enrichment such as student council, conservation initiatives and tutoring.

As a social studies teacher at an alternative high school I helped to prepare traditional as well as non-traditional and at-risk students for life after graduation. I prepared and taught academic lessons and various skills that students would need to attend college and to enter the job market. As a social studies teacher for Tolbert Prep Academy, I assisted with the creation and implementation of the school's polices and procedures for the new charter. I also participated in the development and implementation of project based learning strategies and curriculum. In addition, as a teacher I offered the skills of enrichment activities through a debate club, creative writing and current events awareness. I served as a student advisor assisting students with academic planning and college/career readiness.

As a teacher with Omaha Public Schools, I served students as their case manager helping them attain skills and strategies despite having learning disabilities. I also created and sponsored the Poetry and Creative Writing club, sponsored the Gay Straight Alliance club as well as helped with the planning & facilitating of school events such as Senior Prom and Homecoming. In addition to enrichment activities, I truly enjoyed collaborating and offering preferential development where I assisted teachers with modifying and accommodating their lesson plans and curriculum so that all students would have access to academic excellence and achievement.
