I was promoted to bar on basis of merit before my 90-day review. I currently bar-tend, serve, and train, averaging right over 40 hours a week. I am the first person management calls to cover shifts when something goes wrong with scheduling, and people know they can rely on me. I know that my time in the service industry is coming to an end, but I still try to make myself better all the time. I was promoted to bar on basis of merit before my 90-day review. I chose to leave my last position because the hours at Dave's were better for going to Mississippi State full time. I left this position because I felt under appreciated and could not stand behind some of the decisions ownership was making. I started my official training as a bartender right at my 21st birthday, though the position had been given to me several months prior. In the months between I attended Alcoholic Beverage Control meetings and studied the principles of service and watched the other bartenders more closely while I served. I was also a trainer at Rick's for around 15 months before I left for a better position. I averaged around 30 hours during the summer seasons. This position allowed me to leave for college and still come back and work. In this job I learned about task management and customer retention. A lot of what we did was reliant on the weather and river conditions, myself and the other office staff spent a significant amount of time deescalating customer tension to explain why their vacation plans had to change. In this position I also did a lot of digitization of records, and reworked the website.
